    Director, Global Information Security

    • The Director, Information Security is a hands-on leadership role responsible for advancing, improving, and managing Global Communities digital protection and cybersecurity program across all offices worldwide. This includes the appropriate framework(s), architecture, internal/external threat prevention and information security operations. S/he oversees the development, implementation and enforcement of information security policies, standards, and procedures.
    • The Director, Information Security ensures all information systems are functioning in accordance with established security policies and procedures. S/he oversees IT risk evaluations, audits, and security incident investigations. The Director, Information Security Director provides strong and clear guidance, advice, and recommendations to the Chief Information Officer and other key Global Communities’ staff on risk management, digital protection, and cyber security. S/he actively contributes to the development and implementation of a comprehensive information security strategy, including ongoing collaboration with data protection counsel.

    Responsibilities

    • Develops and implements multi-year strategic plans to enhance information security maturity across the organization. Aligns plans with business goals, risk tolerance, and emerging cybersecurity trends.
    • Develops, maintains, and continuously improves information security frameworks, governing policies, standards, and procedures. Ensure alignment with industry best practices and evolving organizational needs.
    • Collaborates with internal data protection counsel to ensure compliance with global data protection regulations, including the GDPR. Leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive data protection and privacy program.
    • Collaborate with regional teams to ensure the effective execution of security measures aligned with company policies and local regulations.
    • Directs and approves the designing of security architecture and systems.
    • Leads information security operations, including managing managed security service provider(s), incident response, impact analysis, remediation, and prevention activities.
    • Manages IT control policies for the organization. Provide hands-on oversight of the implementation and maintenance of controls outlined in CIS Controls and NIST SP 800-53, adapting strategies to regional and global requirements. Conducts hands-on risk assessments and audits to ensure ongoing compliance.
    • Reviews vulnerability and event detection plans, reports risks and follows-up with IT teams, as necessary.
    • Schedules periodic security audits, including coordination and participation. Leads and ensures execution of remediation plan[s].
    • Leads the evaluation and mitigation of internal/external threat prevention.
    • Acts as the subject matter expert responding to cybersecurity questions and concerns from staff, partners, and donors.
    • Communicates security policies, standards, procedures, and best practices across the organization.
    • Leads the development and maintenance of a global incident response plan, actively coordinating efforts in the event of a security incident. Conduct hands-on post-incident reviews and implement remediation plans globally.
    • Reports regularly to the Chief Information Officer and other key stakeholders as required on the status of the digital protection and cybersecurity program, including metrics, risks, and remediation actions.
    • Provides coaching and mentoring to direct reports as well as others within the global IT team.
    • Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders on information security governance and compliance.
    • Manages information security program budget within annual plan.
    • Designs and executes IT supplier assessments and due diligence to ensure compliance with Global Communities contractual/legal obligations and information security policies and procedures.
    • Conducts periodic testing of cybersecurity defenses using tooling, “red team” exercises or other well-recognized testing mechanisms and provides areas of improvements.
    • Develops and delivers hands-on global training programs to educate employees on security best practices and data protection requirements.
    • Collaborates with regional teams, procurement, and legal to assess and manage the security risks associated with third-party vendors globally.
    • Provides hands-on leadership of a global information security team, actively participating in strategic planning and providing direct support to regional security leads. Foster a collaborative and inclusive global team culture.

    POSITION SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Supervise a unit of at least two employees in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include servant and inclusive leading, coaching, mentoring, assigning, and directing work; interviewing, hiring, and training employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints by providing solutions.
    • Expected to travel on behalf of organization up to 15% annually in support of technology audits, projects, and/or initiatives.

    Qualifications

    • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline and a minimum of eight years of related work experience or a minimum of 12 years of related work experience.
    • Degree in computer science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent cybersecurity experience.
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent certification.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements with shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
    • Minimum 7 to 8 years’ experience in digital protection and cybersecurity role(s).
    • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in leading global digital protection and cybersecurity programs, including staff management and IT project management.
    • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and regulatory requirements in various countries.
    • Experience assessing IT security risks, designing practical action plans, and exposure to IT service management processes and tools.
    • Familiarity with industry standards such as ITIL, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, and NIST SP 800-53.
    • Exceptional planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, decision-making, oral, and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of servant and inclusive leadership philosophies and practical application in a geographically dispersed team context.
    • Evidence of successful operation in organizations with global, regional, and country-based staff.
    • Capacity to build and maintain excellent relations, work effectively in a multicultural environment, and respect diversity.
    • Strong personal, organizational, and self-management skills, with an ability to lead teams and motivate others.
    • Second language is a plus.
    • Experience working in an international development nonprofit/NGO environment preferred.
    • Knowledge of the NGO Reference Model preferred.

    Network Engineer

    • The Network Engineer is the primary IT resource for Global Communities multi country Network environment. Supports, implements, and manages network technologies including but not limited to firewalls, switches, access points, etc.
    • The Network Engineer is responsible for the technical implementation of Global Communities standard network security policies. He/she monitors the network and works with program IT officers to ensure the local program networks are performing in compliance with Global Communities and donors’ security requirements

    Responsibilities

    • Manage Global Communities’ Network infrastructure including the Implementation of technologies and processes to maintain the security, reliability, efficiency, and availability of all communication networks.
    • Function as the primary technical administrator of Cisco Meraki and Sonicwall network management platforms.
    • Provide day to day network support for our global network infrastructure located in remote field offices. Typical support includes configuration and troubleshooting firewall, access points, routers, and all network enable devices.
    • Monitors the global network and collaborates with IT officers to ensure that each field office is in compliance with Global Communities’ and donor security requirements.
    • Perform network design, capacity planning, log monitoring, security maintenance, and performance tuning of network services.
    • Develop and maintain network documentation and diagrams.
    • Work within established configuration and change management procedures to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
    • Function as the primary point of contact for network related technology within the company’s cyber incident response plan.
    • Resolve escalated Service Desk support requests.
    • Provide advice on all IT network related purchases. Interact and coordinate with vendors, suppliers, distributors, and contract consultants. Assist with negotiations and contracts, ensuring that IT network purchases support the business objectives while maintaining compliance with proven industry and corporate standards.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging network technologies, tools, techniques, and best practices. This includes participation in technical communities and identifying innovation opportunities for the organization.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to local IT officers.
    • Provide 24/7 on-call network support.
    • Undertake all other duties and projects as may be assigned from time to time.

    POSITION SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Minimum of 10% international travel, which includes high risk locations to support the completion of IT projects and/or provide in-country program office support.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Superior ability to support applications for production environments utilizing Microsoft cloud, Cisco Meraki and Sonicwall security platforms.
    • Understanding of routing protocols like BGP, OSFP, HSRP, and network based ACL’s.
    • Well versed in supporting most LAN and WAN architectures including Ethernet, Spanning Tree, Trunking, 802.1q vlan tagging, dark fiber, and Point-to-Point circuits.
    • Expertise with network cloud management platforms.
    • Excellent network security skills using sniffing software.
    • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS) and solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
    • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
    • Proven ability to implement and manage industry leading switches, routers, servers, cables, racks, and firewalls.
    • Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment, exercise patience and professionalism during stressful situations and follow established guidelines and instructions.
    • Excellent critical thinking skills and sound judgment. Proven willingness to make timely and sound decisions based on accurate judgment.

    Qualifications

    • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline with a minimum of four years of related work experience or a minimum of eight years of related work experience
    • CCNP or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued).
    • Proven hands-on experience administrating network architecture and infrastructure working in a high-availability network environment, experienced supporting a multi-site organization using various technologies.
    • Hands-on experience with Meraki - SD-WAN appliances, switches, wireless access points and SonicWall firewalls.
    • Experience with Azure firewall is a plus.

    Office 365 Administrator

    • Global Communities is seeking an Office 365 Administrator to join the Global Information Technology team. The Office 365 Administrator is the primary technical and functional subject matter expert for Global Communities portfolio of Microsoft Office 365 (O365) web applications and related productivity tools. In this role, s/he assists in planning, development, implementation, and ongoing support of O365 web applications. S/he provides guidance on the systems roadmap, principles, standards, and best practices regarding O365 web applications. S/he identifies and considers both business and technical needs with the goal of providing quality solutions that enables Global Communities to deliver high quality programs, make informed decisions and increase operational efficiency.

    Responsibilities

    • Implementation of technical solutions that support business processes and strategic objectives. Lead system analysis, design, build/configure, quality assurance, deployments, manage trainings, and provide post implementation support.
    • Act as O365 productivity applications system administrator to include but not limited to manage and maintain: SharePoint/Teams Sites, Storage Management, Document Management and Retention, Term Store Management, Tagging, Labeling, Confidentiality, eDiscovery, Rights Management, Data Loss Prevention, Security/Permission, 3rd party application management, Power Platform Development and Administration, Monitor and Manage Connections, Workflow Management, User Profile Management, Data visualization using Power BI. Lead change, configuration, and release management.
    • Provide ongoing support for Microsoft Office 365 (O365) web applications and related productivity tools to include working with vendors to maintain and support these systems and integration platforms. Troubleshoot technical issues, track, and follow issues through to resolution.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of system functionalities on new releases, customizations, and integrations. Develop and maintain procedures, guidelines, and technical documentation. Participate in team capacity building for all O365 applications in alignment with the organization’s digital skills training program.
    • Stay engaged with technical communities; keep up with the latest trends and best practices in the O365 web applications landscape. This includes participation in technical communities, and testing pilot groups. Identify innovation opportunities and propose to business owners and management. Execute approved innovation ideas in collaboration with IT team member and business partners.
    • Provide digital skills training for technical and non-technical staff on the use of O365 web applications and relevant productivity tools, including training on new processes or training to groups on specific functionality.
    • Review existing business processes and work with stakeholders to establish metrics for process improvements. Identify and consider both the business and the technical needs with the goal of providing quality solutions. Configure, execute, test, and implement the solution. Survey stakeholders to validate improvements.
    • Contribute to a full cycle of technology assessment and business case development to include but not limited to business process analysis, requirements gathering, market research, product evaluation and selection.
    • Develop and maintain technical documentation including requirements, application design, configuration, processes/workflows, integrations, and training manuals.
    • Act as technical SME in technology focused business working groups and/or task forces as needed.
    • Engage and collaborate with all levels of leadership, business units, staff, and customers to influence and create the right technical solutions to solve business problems and improve business processes.

    • Proven experience implementing and maintaining electronic signature applications.
    • Experience in configuring reporting tools to support business development and operational efficiencies.
    • Microsoft Certified Preferred.
    • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
    • Knowledge of technology strategy and IT governance planning.
    • Proven experience in staff management and IT project management.
    • Knowledge of servant and inclusive leadership philosophies and practical application in a geographically disperse team context.
    • Proven experience of enterprise data management and governance.
    • High Level of proficiency in MS Project, MS Office, Visio, and SharePoint.
