    Supply Chain and Logistics Expert

    • SoCha is seeking a Supply Chain and Logistics Expert with international experience to support USAID/KEA’s health program teams and KHPQS partners. This role will collaborate closely with the USAID health program teams and LISA. The expert will also provide comprehensive support in supply chain management for the USAID health program, ensuring efficient coordination with stakeholders and adherence to established protocols and guidelines.

    Scope of Work:

    The supply chain expert’s responsibilities will include:

    • Support USAID health product and technology procurement by reviewing inventory levels and status to determine when new procurements should be initiated, tracking planned arrivals, and flagging delays and challenges in the procurement process.
    • Support with drafting the annual Master List (ML) coordinating with USAID health program teams in addition to identifying any risks or delays with the ML approval.
    • Provide technical support to USAID supply chain activities such as Dawa za Ubora (DzU), Afya Uwazi, Afya Ugavi, KIPS, and others by reviewing work plans, reports, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), processes, inventory, and other activity deliverables. As appropriate, participate in monthly meetings, other technical meetings with the partners, and site visits.
    • Review supply chain partner reports and feedback, identifying areas that need to be communicated and shared with other partners.
    • Participate in coordination and technical meetings with USAID team members, implementing partners, and technical colleagues.
    • Participate in commodity forecasting and quantification exercises, providing technical inputs, coordinating with clinical colleagues, coordinating USAID commodity support, and providing feedback to USAID colleagues.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in public health, supply chain management, pharmacy, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
    • At least twelve (12) years of international experience in supply chain management, preferably in the health sector.
    • Demonstrated expertise in health product and technology procurement.
    • Strong analytical skills for inventory management and procurement processes, with the ability to offer recommendations for improvement.
    • International experience working with the health sector in a low to medium income country context is highly desirable.
    • Demonstrated experience in drafting, coordinating, and obtaining approvals for project documents with government health authorities or similar governing bodies.
    • Proven ability to provide technical assistance and analysis on work plans, reports, KPIs, and inventory management.
    • Experience in facilitating meetings and conducting site visits, including coordinating with multiple stakeholders and partners.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review supply chain reports, identify areas for improvement, and facilitate communication among partners.
    • Experience in commodity forecasting and quantification exercises, collaborating with clinical colleagues and donors, preferably including USAID.
    • Strong communication and reporting skills, including the ability to effectively communicate findings and results to implementing partners and management.

    Social Network Analyst

    Scope: 

    • SoCha requires a Social Network Analyst to design and lead data collection and analysis for this study from June to August 2024.  
    • The Analyst will lead the overall execution of the study remotely, supervising a team of three research officers who will conduct remote key informant interviews with civil society organizations. The Analyst must present preliminary findings in early July and complete their findings in August.  
    • The team will conduct 45 key informant interviews with 20-25 civil society organizations.  
    • The data will be used to conduct a structural analysis of communication and policy dialogue among key organizations. The findings of the study will help guide the development of program interventions in support of improving information exchange and developing a joint vision among civil society members. The study focuses on the network between the organizations, i.e., their interactions and relationships, in order to provide baseline data for a civil society support program.  
    • The Analyst will lead the study team to develop an interview guide that combines a standardized questionnaire for a survey-style inquiry and a set of guiding questions for a qualitative exploration of additional topics. The questionnaire will be designed to gather data on the respondent’s organization’s relationships with other organizations in the network. Social network analysis (SNA) will be used to determine structural network characteristics such as actor centrality, centralization, network density, and subgroups. SNA will be conducted to assess network density by analyzing the network’s underlying communication patterns and patterns of collaboration between the different stakeholders. It will assess issues of common and shared interest by assessing subgroup cohesion on particular issues and help to identify levers of change for improved policy convergence.  
    • Additional questions will seek to understand wider perspectives on key issues and how close different groups may be on a particular vision or solution for common issues. The survey will include several open-ended questions to gather data on other aspects of CSO activity in the network, their engagement with actors outside the network, and the extent to which network organizations have an aligned vision. 
    • The Analyst will organize and lead a remote training on the data collection methods with a team of three researchers. The interviews will be conducted remotely, via secure videoconferencing. Interviews will be conducted by researchers in local languages where possible. 

    Responsibilities: 

    The Analyst will 

    • Consult with SoCha, review client expectations, and lead the execution of the overall study statement of work 
    • Conduct a brief desk review of existing program documentation on the civil society organizations and context 
    • Finalize study methodology and develop data collection tools 
    • Train and advise the data collection team on data collection methodology and tools 
    • Direct data collection efforts: key informant interviews  
    • Conduct a limited selection of interviews and/or supervise interviews directly 
    • Check data quality and correct field team on data collection methods 
    • Lead an internal synthesis workshop with the data collection team to develop preliminary findings 
    • Prepare a presentation of preliminary findings 
    • Analyze final data collected: determine structural network characteristics such as actor centrality, centralization, network density, and subgroups 
    • Develop a report and presentation documenting assessment findings related to indicators of interest, specifically  
    • The extent of coordination and collaboration between civil society organizations, and  
    • The extent to which these civil society organizations demonstrate shared interest in key policies and issues 
    • Incorporate SoCha and client feedback to finalize report 
    • Adapt to changes of the scope and responsibilities to achieve the objectives of the study 
    • Other duties as appropriate 

    Qualifications: 

    • Experience in designing, managing, and executing social network analysis. 
    • Experience in designing, managing, and executing studies using qualitative analysis.  
    • Experience managing remote data collection teams.  
    • Some experience and understanding of civil society organizations and political movements. 
    • Master’s degree in the social sciences or a related field.   
    • Experience delivering high-quality, visually compelling presentations utilizing infographics and diagrams of networks.

    Translation And Transcription Services

    • SoCha is developing an AI Analysis Model and will be leveraging AI modeling techniques to analyze data from an upcoming assessment of community perception on Preventing Conflict and Violent Extremism (PCVE) efforts in selected counties in Kenya. The aim of the AI Analysis Model is to uncover hidden patterns, trends, and correlations that traditional analytical methods may overlook. This AI analysis is expected to provide a more nuanced understanding of community dynamics and perceptions on PCVE. SoCha is therefore seeking providing translation and transcription services to support the Prevention and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) initiatives. The service should leverage advanced AI technology to transcribe voice recordings in any of the Kenyan local languages and translate them into English, ensuring the preservation of nuanced meaning. The organization’s system should also integrate local transcribers' expertise to enhance accuracy.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Transcribe voice recordings in Swahili or any other Kenyan local language using advanced AI models to ensure high accuracy and context retention.
    • Manually review, proofread and validate transcriptions.
    • Automatically translate transcriptions into English, ensuring the process is verifiable to preserve nuances and contextual meanings.
    • Manually review, proofread and validate English translations.
    • Seamlessly integrate the service with existing data collection tools such as KoboToolbox, TaroWorks, and others, enabling continuous processing of transcriptions as data is recorded.
    • Support qualitative data to ensure that all narrative data is accurately captured and translated.
    • Delivery of transcribed and translated texts in Excel/CSV format.
    • Ensures high accuracy through advanced AI models and local transcriber verification.

    Qualification of the Firm

    • Demonstrated experience in developing and utilizing advanced models for high-accuracy transcription, translations, and context retention in various spoken languages.
    • Proven track record of providing automatic and verifiable translations that preserve nuances and contextual meanings, specifically translating into English.
    • Established network of skilled local transcribers to ensure transcription and translation accuracy.
    • Experience in integrating transcription and translation services with data collection tools such as KoboToolbox, TaroWorks, and similar platforms,
    • Proficiency in automating transcription and translation processes, demonstrating a significant reduction in time and resource requirements compared to traditional methods.
    • Capability to handle volumes of qualitative data, ensuring comprehensive capture and accurate translation of narrative information.
    • Robust quality assurance processes involving both advanced AI models and human verification by local transcribers to ensure the highest accuracy of transcriptions and translations.
