    Manager Infrastructure & Operations -Faulu MFB

    Job Description

    The role is responsible for the stability, security, and efficiency of our IT systems and services. This role involves leading a team of IT professionals, collaborating with other departments, and implementing best practices to optimize our technology infrastructure.

    KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (Please add)

    System Uptime/Availability:

    • The percentage of time that systems and services are operational. Higher uptime indicates better reliability and availability of infrastructure.

    Incident Response Time:

    • The average time it takes to respond to incidents. Faster response times demonstrate efficient incident management.

    Mean Time to Repair (MTTR):

    • The average time it takes to repair a system or service after a failure. Shorter MTTR indicates quicker recovery from issues.

    Change Success Rate:

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Infrastructure Management:

    • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the bank’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and cloud services.
    • Ensure the infrastructure is scalable, secure, and highly available to meet the bank’s needs.
    • Implement and manage disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

    Operations Management:

    • Manage day-to-day IT operations to ensure the efficient and reliable delivery of IT services.
    • Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to minimize downtime and disruptions.
    • Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards.

    Service Desk Management:

    • Oversee the operation of the IT service desk, ensuring timely and effective support for all users.

    • Monitor service desk performance metrics and implement improvements as necessary.
    • Provide training and support to service desk staff to ensure high-quality service delivery.

    Team Leadership:

    Project Management:

    • Plan and execute IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

    Security and Compliance:

    • Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect the bank’s data and systems.

    Vendor Management:

    • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
    • Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
    • Monitor vendor performance and address any issues that arise.

    Budget Management:

    • Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
    • Monitor and control expenditures to stay within budget.
    • Provide regular financial reports and forecasts.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED FOR THE JOB)

    • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in IT infrastructure and operations management.
    • Proven experience in managing IT teams and projects.
    • Strong knowledge of network architecture, server management, and cloud services.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
    • Proficiency in IT infrastructure technologies (e.g., Windows/Linux servers, networking, virtualization).

    System Analyst - Faulu MFB

    Job Description

    The job will be responsible for the day to day running of Close of business (COB) process and Database Administration. System analyst will be accountable for executing all COB and backup processes.

    In liaison with unit head, the system analyst will manage and participate in database / storage software patch applications.
    The role will be accountable for all reports generated before, during and after Close of Business (COB) including data upload to Business Intelligence data warehouse for business reporting.

    Working closely with supervisor to monitor, manage and ensure continuous improvement of the COB processes and advice on service quality, ensuring Close of business processes and backups are effectively and efficiently delivered within the stipulated SLA.

    Perform necessary COB/storage issue escalation to Supervisor and liaise with Support partners for resolution.
    Liaise with Service Delivery unit to ensure timely, concise and effective communication with the business for service outage or service interruption.

    Responsibilities

    Close of Business & Backup

    • Execution of the Bank’s core banking systems COB processes as per SLA.
    • Taking Data Backups in compliance to the established procedures.
    • Administration and management of T24 Core Banking Application.
    • Configuration, Administration & Troubleshooting of T24 Environment.
    • T24 Core Banking system performance Tuning & Application Process Optimization
    • T24 Administration of the database layer.
    • COB (Close of Business issues) troubleshooting including Year End, Month End & Daily COB Support & COB Optimization.
    • T24 External Database indexes Creation in liaison with Partners.
    • T24 interface management, ATM integration with TCServer communicating via TCP / Socket Base / Jbase Agents.
    • Manage and Monitoring of All the T24 Critical Services including TSM Services.
    • Responsible for scheduled and Ad-hoc backups and keeping track of backups as per the retention policy
    • T24 Test Environment and Q&A Creations and Support
    • T24 Backup Management & Restoration
    • Maintain Primary and Disaster Recovery sites, creation, implementation and supervision of DR Plan, DR test scripts and DR Data integrity.

    Management Support.  

    • Escalating COB related issues to management for immediate resolution.
    • Administration of COB output reports and upload to BI system.
    • Performs capacity planning required to create and maintain all databases.
    • Control and manage access permission to database and UNIX environments.
    • Ensuring that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly.
    • Ensure Replication to DR site functionality is optimal during COB processing.
    • Working closely with Business systems and infrastructure team in ensuring optimal service delivery.
    • Participate in ICT Team assignments.
    • Evaluate new technologies and software appropriate to Faulu Microfinance bank.
    • Monitor, on a continuous basis, all transactions to ensure that unusual and suspicious transactions are reported to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)
    • Implementing and enforcing the board approved AML, KYC & CFT policy in as far as is applicable within my area of responsibility
    • Perform other duties as may be required from time to time.

    Reporting & Analysis

    • Ensure and provide a daily report of COB performance with key focus on jobs that may impact service uptime.  
    • Liaise with Business Analyst for unit/departmental reporting

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Information Technology or equivalent IT related training with at least 4 years’ working experience in a busy financial institution
    • ITIL Service Delivery Certification.

    Skills and Experience

    • 2 years’ experience in T24 Close of Business process.
    • Certification in Oracle, Mssql database and UNIX operating system is required.
    • Knowledge of T24 and other leading Banking Software close of business processes.
    • Proven knowledge and use of leading database systems e.g. Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL and jbase
    • Proven knowledge and administration of windows and UNIX platforms
    • Knowledge of other core banking software e.g. Finacle, BR.Net etc.
