    KE - Driver

    Primary Purpose

    This position is primarily responsible for providing logistical support and driving for CWS field staff and visitors when necessary

    Work Environment

    • Field environment, Periodic travel to other field locations and Nairobi office as may be required.

    Responsibilities

    Program Administration (60%)

    • Drives CWS Africa motor vehicles to complete assigned duties.
    • Cleans and cares for official CWS Africa vehicles.
    • Conducts regular checks of vehicles to ensure that they are mechanically sound and in good working order and reports any problems noted to the Admin Manager.
    • Provides safe transportation to and from field locations, meetings and other destinations for CWS Africa staff and visitors on official business.
    • Posts and collects mail, weighs, and affixes the correct number of stamps on letters and packages.
    • Adhere to road safety regulations and ensure the well-being of passengers.
    • Transports goods, equipment, and materials to working sites as needed.
    • Ensures the secure loading and unloading of items, taking care to prevent damage.
    • Familiarizes him/herself- with local geography and road conditions.
    • Performs general clerical duties as may be assigned and which may include photocopying and packing supplies for field team travel.
    • Conducts routine maintenance checks on vehicles including checking fuel, oil, and other fluids.
    • Repairs minor mechanical problems on the CWS Africa motor vehicles after confirming the same with the Admin Manager.
    • Obtains quotations and makes simple purchases on behalf of the office and as per instructions by the Admin and/ Program team.
    • Ensures that the fuel level in each vehicle does not always go below half tank.
    • Maintains effective communication with other staff members.
    • Reports any issues or concerns promptly.

    Compliance (15%)

    • Adheres to the Organization’s policies and guidelines related to vehicle use and safety.
    • Ensures compliance with local traffic regulations and legal requirements.

    Data Management and Analysis (20%)

    • Maintains accurate records of deliveries made to other offices in the CWS Africa delivery book.
    • Maintains accurate records of trips, mileage, and fuel consumption.
    • Submits regular reports on vehicle maintenance and usage to the Admin Manager.

    Additional Responsibilities (5%)

    Experience

    Qualifications

    • Two (2) years of driving experience (category B, C1 & C) for both manual and automatic vehicles is required.
    • Experience in Driving Category A1 and/ A2 is an added advantage

    Skills

    • Working knowledge of basic motor vehicle mechanics and required.
    • Good working knowledge of driving in rural areas
    • Good working knowledge of Marsabit is an added advantage.

    KE- Project Officer Agricultural Education & Extension

    Primary Purpose

    • This position is responsible for the implementation of the Early Recovery and livelihoods enhancement project (Matumaini) in Marsabit, Kenya under the auspices of the Church World Service (CWS) Early Recovery and Resilience Project.
    • The project includes mobilizing and educating farmers to undertake livelihood and resilience activities including crop production, pasture management, farmer managed natural regeneration, beekeeping, village savings and loans associations (VSLA) water and soil conservation and beadworks in Laisamis Sub - county.
    • The project seeks to provide comprehensive training to the selected farmers in groups to effectively undertake the enterprises to realize diversified livelihood options, increased, income and resilience. The selected candidate will work closely with the contracted service providers local stakeholders and community leaders.
    • The Project Officer will oversee the execution of project activities aimed at enhancing community resilience and preparedness ensuring alignment of project components with program goals, CWS requirements, and international standards .

    Responsibilities

    Program Administration (50%)

    • Takes lead in the implementation of Early Recovery and livelihoods enhancement project (Matumaini) in Marsabit
    • Communicates with teams and address issues affecting transaction/process execution and service delivery
    • Ensure consistency/integrity of all transactions/processes with rules/procedures in a service area
    • Ensure alignment of project components with program goals, CWS requirements, and international standards.
    • Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with local authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders in Marsabit.
    • Identify and assess potential disaster risks and vulnerabilities as well as potential threats to the projects within target communities and communicate accordingly.
    • Conduct training and capacity-building programs (ToT trainings) for local staff, advisory committees, local communities and on relevant practices.
    • Identify opportunities for developing proposals to secure financial support for community projects.
    • Supervise and mentor junior project staff, local advisory committees and Lead Farmers in ensuring high levels of motivation, performance, and professional development.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork and shared responsibility.
    • Ensure efficient management of project resources, including budgets, supplies, and equipment.

    Representation/Engagement (10%)

    • Establish and manage collaborations with stakeholders at the Sub County, and Ward level.
    • Maintain effective relationships with CWS Africa partners and other Agencies.
    • Ensure partner communication is professional, timely and proactive.
    • May occasionally travel to other field sites to meet with/accompany partners and represent CWS Africa on processing or other programmatic matters.

    Experience

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of Four (4) years’ paid work experience required.
    • Supervisory experience preferred
    • Experience writing reports and proposals are required.

    • Thorough knowledge of the Agricultural Extension and Community Development.

The selected candidate will work closely with the contracted service providers as well as Lead Farmers.
    • The project Assistant will play a key role in supporting the tree nursery establishments and management, supervising the FMNR, training communities on environmental conservation and management.

    • Support the implementation of Early Recovery and livelihoods enhancement project (Matumaini) in Marsabit
    • Identify, profile and organize farmers into farmer groups.
    • Organize target communities into formal groups for purposes of undertaking project activities.
    • Provide comprehensive training to farmer groups on Good Livestock Practices with a focus on chicken production) as well as beekeeping
    • Undertake extension services to support the adoption of agricultural technologies
    • Support the monitoring and evaluation exercises including baselines, annual and endline surveys
    • Establish and manage collaborations with stakeholders at the Ward level.
    • Provide regular project updates to the Project Officer.
    • Adapt and use training materials and ensure existing training materials are up to date.
    • compile weekly, monthly and quarterly project reports both quantitative and qualitative, aspects of the project.

    Experience

    Qualifications

    • A minimum four (4) years of experience is required.
    • Experience in Animal Health and Production, Agricultural Education and Extension, Community Development, Livestock or related field working with communities is required
    • Experience writing reports and proposals are required.
    • Previous experience conducting community trainings or presentations preferred .

    Skills

    • Thorough knowledge of the animal production, Agricultural Extension and Community Development.

    KE-Systems Solutions Champion (I)

    Primary Purpose

    • The Systems Solutions Champion serves as RSC Africa's primary focal point with the Refugee Processing Center (RPC) on matters related to the functionality and further development of START, including the use of Processing Guides and Local SOPs.
    • This position is dedicated to RPC-directed activities and relies on support and cooperation from and collaboration with RSC colleagues to advance training, system testing, processing guidance and local SOP review/drafting, business process changes, change implementation, and other activities to improve standardization in guidance and data, to increase processing efficiency and maximize the use of system enhancements, and to streamline and enhance reporting.

    Responsibilities

    • Leadership and Management (20%)
    • Provide input in strategic planning conversations to achieve RSC Program goals.
    • Champion CWS policy, procedures, and organizational culture to staff, and contribute to strategies for ensuring staff fully understand and abide by CWS policies.

    • Coordinate and oversee User Acceptance Testing on an as-needed basis.

    Representation (20%)

    • Serve as the RSC lead for communication with the RPC regarding START, participate in RPC & SSC collaboration and knowledge-sharing forums, and coordinate with other RSCs on a rotating basis, as assigned by RPC.
    • Oversee presentations to RPC highlighting top questions/issues/pain points received from RSC colleagues for RPC’s situational awareness.
    • Maintain effective relationships with RSC Africa/USRAP partners, including PRM, USCIS, IOM, UNHCR, RPC and domestic Resettlement Agencies.
    • Ensure partner communication is professional, timely and proactive.
    • Occasionally travel to the country offices to meet with country office programs staff on processing matters.
    • Ensure staff are professional when representing CWS/RSC Africa to refugees, partners, the funder, and colleagues.

    Compliance (15%)

    • Report any identified areas of significant compliance risk for the RSC Africa program.
    • Ensure all refugee case processing functions within the team strictly adhere to DOS/BPRM, USCIS, RPC, CWS and RSC Africa policies, guidelines, and procedures.
    • Provide input on effects of external policy updates on the department’s internal SOPs and workflow and implement changes due to these updates.

    • Ensure that all unit activities are completed in an efficient and effective manner and reflect USRAP priorities for Sub-Saharan Africa.
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of START cleanup filters and reports and quality control (QC) checks. Ensure reports are accurate and efficient.
    • Develop annual and monthly projections to inform the START team priorities.
    • Collaborate with other Programs units for improved processing efficiency across the department.
    • Support creation of in-system solutions to prevent the need for some reports.

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of 8 years of paid work experience is required.
    • A minimum of 2 years of direct supervisory experience with responsibility for hiring, evaluating performance, administering corrective action, and directing day-to-day work is required.
    • Previous experience with the USRAP required.
    • Demonstrated management experience, to include administrative, program, and project management, with a refugee serving/processing agency(s) preferred.
    • USPH preferred, but not required.

    Skills
