    University Librarian

    • The University Librarian at The Presbyterian University of East Africa (PUEA) acquires, organizes, manages, and distributes the library resources at the University. His/her responsibilities include supporting student research and developing effective IT facilities on campus, answering student questions, teaching students how to use the library system, and managing specialized library computer applications.     Requirements for Appointment

    •  A PhD. in library and information Science or related fields with 3 years as Deputy University Librarian and should have published a minimum of three articles in peer reviewed journals.

    University Hostel Warden

    • The University Hostel Warden shall be responsible for and perform functions which include but not limited to the following:
    •  Ensuring high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in all the hostels are maintained;
    •  Implementing wardens committee decisions on student’s accommodation; and taking care of the current stores stock levels and initiate re-ordering action;
    •  Compile relevant reports for action and make monthly returns of students’ bed occupancy returns for management use and any other duties as may be assigned by a senior officer;
    •  Innovate, plan, implement, supervise and monitor activities and annual action plans and budgets;
    •  Plan for and supervise accommodation facilities for all categories of students.
    •  Provide basic counseling services for the students;
    •  Ensure Health and Safety measures in all the University Hostels and our affiliated hostels in and outside the University;
    •  Responsible for the overall security of the hostel and will coordinate his/her responsibility with the Security Officer of the University. Will periodically verify the furniture and fittings of the hostel with the assistance of the Office Assistant, and take action for their repairs/replacement or for obtaining additional furniture;
    •  Ensure the maintenance of discipline and decorum in the common room. Can permit the common room to stay open beyond the prescribed hour on a special occasion. Will pursue, at an appropriate level, all complaints relating to common room items like television;
    •  Liaise with Hostel owners and community leaders in matters concerning the students;
    •  Mediate between and coordinate students and other offices of the University;
    •  Ensuring that student’s occupancy agreements on semester basis between the University and hostel owners are signed and upheld;
    •  Ensuring Rental payments to affiliated hostels are processed and honored;
    •  Oversee conferences and seminars hosted in the University Halls of residence.
    •  Clearing student’s finalists for graduation;
    •  Rapid response to any crises that happen among the students;
    •  Enforce discipline and decorum in the University hostels;

    Job Description:

    • The Systems Administrator - Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) at Presbyterian University of East Africa (PUEA) will develop and maintain Moodle LMS System for University and ensure appropriate use of the E-learning system in line with the University’s policies and regulations. He/she will also work with ICT team to address the normal ICT user support requests.

    Requirements for Appointment

    •  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, technology, software engineering or related field with 5 years of related work experience with advanced Moodle use and ICT support with a minimum 3 years of experience working in a higher education context;
    •  A certification in Training will be an added advantage;
    •  At least 5 years’ experience in LMS management from a university setup or recognized academic institution or a related field;
    •  Knowledge of Excel, Microsoft applications such as Microsoft Dynamics Navision and
    • CRM will be an added advantage.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The Systems Administrator - Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) shall be responsible for and perform functions which include but not limited to the following:

    • System and technology management
    •  Maintain and develop the LMS, in partnership with the ICT and ODeL team.
    •  Provide helpdesk support including responding to calls and emails from system users;
    •  Help users to navigate and get the most out of the LMS, including being a point of contact on how to access courses, resources and live reporting;
    •  Continuously strive to promote better user experience of LMS content, staying on top of technical and operational trends in LMS improvements;
    •  Maintain course content by working with course developers to ensure information is current;
    •  Create, configure and edit learning content in the LMS;
