    IT Business Analyst

    JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT

    The IT Business Analyst is a technical role responsible for undertaking business analysis tasks and works as a liaison among stakeholders in the Business Units in order to understand the structure, policies and operations of an organization, and to recommend technical solutions that enable the organization achieve its goals.

    The role is responsible for identification and documentation of actionable user requirements in the form of a Business Requirements Document, and to develop Technical Requirement Specifications to guide in solution development. Functional and non-functional aspects of the technical solutions should be considered utilizing the available technology assets.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

    Strategic Planning (30%)  

    • Together with the architects, communicate with the heads of their business units to understand their local strategies, develop corresponding long-term plans for IT, negotiate these plans with local business leaders and document the agreed plans for IT as Considerations and Visions relevant for their business units.

    Initiative Delivery (70%)

    • Together with the architects, communicate with the heads of their business units to understand their local strategies, develop corresponding long-term plans for IT, negotiate these plans with local business leaders and document the agreed plans for IT as Considerations and Visions relevant for their business units
    • Analysis and Documentation of Requirements[1]Conduct thorough business process analysis and come up with Business Requirements Documents (BRD) using inputs from business team’s user stories, product specifications, and screen mock-ups designs. The BRD will clearly define the requirements Page 2 of 3 from a business and technical perspectives, documenting details of solution technical capabilities and/or how existing solutions will be modified to provide the desired technical capabilities. The role is also responsible for questioning – to a point of technical clarity – the need for the requests made in the business requirements.
    • Experimenting by building prototypes, frameworks and foundations to be consumed by the technical team.
    • Collaborate with other stakeholders to document Technical Requirements Documents that specifies the Solution Overviews and Solution Designs.
    • Requirements assessment and validation: The role must test requirements prior to implementation to ensure that they meet stakeholder objectives and are technically sound. In order to do this, the role must develop the master test plan, which is developed to test the requirements, and which may also be responsible for Technical Quality Assurance once the final project deliverables are ready.
    • Management, Communication and Control of Business Requirements: Using the Requirements Work Plan, the role shall manage the business analysis process; the role shall also manage changes to documents and requirements; communicate with stakeholders such as the project manager, business sponsor, and others involved in the business analysis and project management process.
    • Work with the teams that are writing business cases for new initiatives, participate in writing of RFP documents, work with product management teams to define solution features.
    • Participating in technology selection-Participate in identifying fit for purpose technologies solutions for Digital Business.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    Academic

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field of study from a recognized university.
    • Certificate in CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) is an added advantage.

    Desired work experience:

    • At least 3 years background in software development with knowledge across front ends, APIs, cloud technologies, databases and infrastructure
    • Hands on experience in software development with major languages Java, PhP, Python, C# and practical experience using relation RDBMS e.g. Postgres, MySQL, Oracle etc.
    • Familiarity with DevOps & continuous integration tools e.g. Git, Jenkins and test automation e.g. Junit, selenium, robot framework, JMeter.
    • At least one certification from TOGAF, ITIL Foundation or Design Thinking and Innovation.
    • Excellent systems analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills along with meeting facilitation skills
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills with ability to breakdown complex items to actionable elements.
