Partnership Impact Data and System Analyst at World Vision Kenya

Job Purpose.

A primary purpose of this role is to lead the creation and realization of the Partnership Research Approach with its new Go-No Go mechanism enabling World Vision to prioritize and invest efforts in new research strategically in full consideration of the internal (FO, SO) and external research priorities and gaps. The Partnership Senior Researcher will be responsible to develop multi-year research plans, work closely with the FO and SOs to identify top priority research themes in consideration their external engagement plans to ensure that any new research is designed in full consideration of its target audience and respective needs to bring full added value. The role holder will be expected to independently develop quantitative or mixed methods research designs, develop data collection tools, analyse collected data, develop research reports as well as help with the development of various research-based materials to demonstrate WV’s unique value preposition. It will be critically important for the role holder to ensure a due balance in generating learning across fragile/DM to development contexts and programming to manifest WV’s richness in contributing to well-being of children.

Major Responsibilities

Develop & Drive Partnership Research Approach

• Develop and implement Partnership Research Plan for the Strategy Evidence Team in close consultation with key FO and SOs
• Create and apply Research Go/No Go Mechanism as a tool for informed decision making
• Analyse and constantly update research priorities of SOs, FOs, donors, research institutions and other key stakeholders internally and externally
• Assess current and future research priority trends to be ahead of the game with Partnership research results
• Analyse research market and availability of research grants as well as internal research funding opportunities with respective priority topics and themes
• Develop and manage the Partnership Research Approach with its prioritized themes considering OP, donor promise, FO/SO interests and industry trends

Conduct Research

• Design and conduct cross sectoral Partnership research to generate robust evidence of impact to show WV’s unique value proposition
• Shift from intra sectoral/functional to multi-sector (two sectors and more) research designs to generate rich learning complementing results from the Partnership Impact Measurement Framework
• Ensure due focus on DM/Humanitarian Aid as well as NEXUS in new research designs to balance learning from various contexts and diverse program types
• Develop and integrate impact investment into research to connect impact and financial data and demonstrate economic value of program interventions
• Introduce and lead longitudinal research on the basis the Child Sponsorship
• Providing strong evidence of WV contribution to the promises made to donors and our unique value proposition (e.g. lifting communities out of poverty) across multiple sectors and themes
• Develop research reports and various other materials on the basis of the research findings in close cooperation with the Senior Evidence Translator and Partnership Impact Communication Advisor

Disseminate Research

• Lead the dissemination of research findings as well as recommendations among FOs, SOs and other key stakeholders
• Work closely with the GC and field sector leads to ensure due understanding of cross sectoral research results
• Identify various international platforms where Partnership research results could be presented for WV’s further prepositioning
• Collaborate with the Partnership Impact Communication Advisor, Senior Evidence Translator as well as GMC to use Partnership research results to develop various impact communication materials to support the field, SOs etc. for research driven external engagement

Strategic Research Partnerships

• Identify and nurture existing research partnerships
• Build new partnerships with various research institutions, think tanks, agencies externally as well as with FO, RO and/or SO internally
• Co-create and conduct joint research designs with existing and/or new research partners
• Increase partnerships with academic institutions to increase credibility of WV evidence of impact
• Develop research grant proposals to create and strengthen partnerships with research grant donors

Other

• Support successful realization of new initiatives and projects of the Strategy Evidence Team evolving gradually

Knowledge and Education

• MA or equivalent in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Humanitarian Assistance or any related field.
• At least 7 years of proven experience in independent research
• At least 5 years of proven experience of leading quantitative and mixed methods research
• Proven experience of building collaborative relationships
• Proven record of quality research proposal development complemented with a high win rate
• Well connected to a wide network of researchers and aid workers working in the field 
• High proficiency in statistical analysis
• High proficiency in various statistical software of data science (e.g. STATA, R etc.)
• High proficiency in quantitative and mixed method research designs
