    Production Manager - Nyeri

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oversee daily farm operations, including milking, feeding, and herd management.
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for all aspects of dairy production.
    • Monitor the health and wellbeing of the dairy herd.
    • Coordinate with veterinarians for regular health checks and treatment of illnesses.
    • Implement and maintain biosecurity measures to prevent disease
    • Recruit, train, and supervise farm staff.
    • Schedule shifts and allocate tasks to ensure smooth operations.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and support
    • Monitor milk production and quality, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
    • Keep accurate records of production data, animal health, and breeding programs.
    • Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
    • Manage feed and supplies inventory, ensuring timely procurement and efficient use.
    • Oversee maintenance and repair of farm equipment and facilities.
    • Implement cost-saving measures without compromising on quality.
    • Implement sustainable farming practices to minimize environmental impact.
    • Manage waste disposal and recycling programs.
    • Explore opportunities for renewable energy use on the farm.
    • Develop and manage the production budget.
    • Monitor expenses and implement cost control measures.
    • Prepare financial reports and forecasts for senior management.

    Key Requirements Skills, experience and qualification

    • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Dairy Science, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in dairy farm management or a related role.
    • Strong knowledge of dairy production systems and best practices.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
    • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Good experience in food safety management systems and HACCP
