    Software Developer

    About the role:

    Burn is looking for a full-stack software developer, with good data-base engineering knowledge, to build reporting and payment processing apps for its pay-as-you-go products. The role will also involve maintaining and improving current software solutions implemented.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Integrate different payment processing (e.g. MPESA APIs) into the system.
    2. Design and test UI/UX with target customers.
    3. You will be the primary software engineer leading this platform, so while teamwork is crucial to ensure the system is the right fit, you will work independently in terms of coding and troubleshooting. The team will be growing on a need base.
    4. Manage communication with software contractors and partners.
    5. Work with Burn Engineering team to interface hardware products with software support to achieve Burn’s business logic.

    About the role:

    BURN is looking for an accountant who will be responsible for preparing accounts and managing financial information. You will be required to prepare and examine financial records, assuring information is up to date and accurate as well as accounting or taxation or focus on more specific areas of the company's financial department. The individual will be required be a French speaker so as to communicate with French speaking clients.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Enter all financial transaction details into accounting system on real time basis for both local and foreign entities.

    BURN is looking to hire a QMS Coordinator to design and execute Quality Management Systems in line with applicable standards and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will ensure that all necessary systems and procedures are in place to satisfy all customer requirements and audits.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Organize, track, and maintain information concerning the various aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS).
    2. Lead all activities related document control including assigning document numbers, uploading documents on the intranet, acquiring customer and industry standards, record retention and maintaining master log for all documents.
    3. Create, update, and/or review QMS related documents, in collaboration with process owners.

    Duty Remission Officer

    About the role

    BURN is looking for a Duty Remission Officer to lead in duty remission reconciliation per applicable laws and regulations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Supply Chain Manager and will be well versed with Custom systems procedures, import and export documentation, logistics and operations.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Prepare an annual plan for duty remission based on sales forecast.
    2. Update and maintain a log of raw material utilization as per exports done.
    3. Maintain a log of actual exports based on quantities on export entries.
    4. Ensure proper record keeping of all related documents including Duty Remission, inbound items, clearing documentation from KRA.
    5. Prepare bonds for submission and approval by the insurance company.
    6. Ensure approved bonds are lodged by KRA and bond numbers issued.
    7. Arrange for collection of original bond documents from KRA and submit to clearing agent for lodging of import entries.
    8. Maintain filing system for Duty Remission and VAT exemption documents as required by law (C56/60, Bonds, Import entries, Export Entries, C17 tracker).
    9. Share weekly report on duty remissions applied/approved vs all material imports received.
    10. Update and maintain a tracker/log for all approved duty remission schemes and reconciliations.
    11. Lead in duty remission reconciliation and avail all supporting documents for presentation to KRA.
    12. Follow up with insurance companies for a refund of premiums paid for duty remission (and VAT Exemption where need be).
    13. Any other jobs assigned by your supervisor.

    1. Diploma Level or higher in a Procurement or Logistics Discipline.

    About Role

    BURN is looking for a Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) consultant who will assist in reviewing, improving, and formalizing the existing SOPs. The consultant will be responsible for executing activities related to procedural document development including any relevant training materials that support the SOP documents.

    1. Review of current SOP documents for understanding and assessing needs for additional SOPs based on understanding

    East Africa Controller

    Job description

    Burn is looking for an East Africa Regional controller who will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring the company’s financial and accounting activities in East Africa. The individual will be tasked with keeping track of financial reports, performing accounting tasks, monitoring inventory, and communicating with department heads.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Plan and conduct audits to ensure compliance with company policies and SOPs.
    2. Participate in the development and implementation of internal audit policies and procedures in compliance with Internal Auditing Standards and in accordance with local and international best practices.
    3. Review monthly sales reports ensuring accurate recording in the ERP system.
    4. Observe and ensure that proper periodical inventory counts are executed across all warehouses and reconciliations are done between system records and physical count values.

    7. Complete audit work papers by documenting audit tests and findings.

    Burn is looking for a Quality Inspector who will be responsible for reviewing products and materials during manufacturing to make sure they meet company requirements. This individual will be tasked with measuring objects compared to their intended physical specifications, running quality tests, and identifying defects.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Manage and control quality as well as production volumes
    2. Check, Inspect and analyze Products against specification sheets
