    Learning Community Experience Intern

    Strategic Presence and Communication:

    • Optimized Hub PresenceMaintain a strategic physical presence at  the hubs to maximize diverse learner interaction. This physical presence is key to observing, understanding, and directly engaging with the learner community
    • Liaison Roleas a community experience intern, you will;
    • Conduct weekly meetings with program teams to understand their expectations.
    • Attend and contribute to synchronization meetings and strategy sessions.
    • Ensure alignment of objectives and represent learner interests and feedback.

    Event Planning, Communication, and Community Building:

    • Community Event Management: Design, communicate, promote, coordinate (and report) events that enrich the learning experience and foster community spirit. Work closely with the ALX Kenya team to ensure coherent messaging and maximize participation from both ALX members and the broader community

    Engagement, Networking, and Support:

    • Responsive Support: Be prompt and proactive in addressing learner inquiries across both local & digital platforms and physical hub settings. Advocate on behalf of learners to ensure their needs are met and their voices are heard within the internal ALX community

    Administrative and Project Management:

    • Regular UpdatesConsistently communicate with the learner community across multiple channels, ensuring messages are clear, engaging, and informative. This includes writing and disseminating updates, reminders, and educational content relevant to the learners’ journey
    • Reporting: Conduct analytical reports on attendance and user feedback. Present findings to the team-lead for strategic decision-making. Collaborate with learner community coordinators to use data for continuous improvement in community engagement initiatives
    • Meeting CoordinationAttend and contribute to regular team meetings, documenting discussions and action points

    City General Manager

    ABOUT THE ROLE 

    As the General Manager, your mission is to grow The ALX community  while driving its commercial  success and impact. You will build and oversee a high performing team, run day to day operations, and oversee revenue generation. As General Manager, you will be responsible for: 

    • Community Growth: You will ensure that the community grows, while maintaining its high calibre membership
    • P&L Ownership: You will have full P&L ownership as you grow revenue and manage costs to ensure profitability and sustainability
    • Business Development & partnerships: You will establish strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, 
    • Serving as the local Face of ALX / Sand: You will be ALX/ Sand's representative in key forums and with local media etc.
    • Managing stakeholders: You will build and maintain key stakeholder relationships. 
    • Creating work opportunities for young Africans: You will help to facilitate work opportunities for young Africans in Nairobi by enabling early career top talent to build relationships with local corporate partners
    • Driving a culture of execution: You will serve as the custodian of Sand's entrepreneurial ‘doer’ culture, rolling up your sleeves as a Founder--from engaging with VIPs and celebrities to setting the table for an intimate gathering -- no job is out of scope.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • 5+ years of experience in management consulting, finance, or operations management
    • 3+ years experience building partnerships
    • 3+ years in a management role
    • Entrepreneurial DNA & high level of self-motivation (experience as an entrepreneur / working in a fast-paced environment is a plus)
    • Strong business and financial acumen
    • Strong relationship building skills & stakeholder management
    • ‘Roll up Sleeves’ GYSHIDO mindset
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience building & managing lean, high-performance teams
    • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, highly organised and agile
    • Data-Driven decision making
    • Capable of building financial models
    • Flexibility to travel frequently around your region, as well as working late nights and weekends as and when required
    • This is a hybrid role, with minimum 2-3 days at the office required
