    Statistician

    Responsibilities

    • Organizes, designs, plans and carries out the collection, evaluation, analysis, compilation and dissemination of statistical data by selecting methods of data collection, selecting and implementing methods for checking collected data, and selecting and implementing appropriate methods for data processing for incorporation into databases.
    • Support the collection, processing, evaluation and dissemination of various forms of data from Member states, UN-Habitat branches and regional or field offices, civil society, NGOs and partner databases including those from other UN agencies, UN Statistical Division, UN population Division, etc.
    • Participates in the development, implementation and management of statistical database(s). Compile a database comprising of SDG 11 and other Human Settlement Indicators at the city level using different data sources such as national censuses; Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS); Multiple Indicators Cluster Surveys (MICS); Urban Inequities Surveys (UIS); various national household surveys; and other administrative sources.
    • Contribute to the data analysis and updates of the Urban Indicators Database including follow up with National Statistical systems on urban SDGs and City Prosperity Index (CPI) related data and reporting mechanisms.

    Education

    • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in statistics, mathematics, economics, sociology, GIS or related field is required.
    • A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of statistical data or related area is required.
    • Two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable

    Staff Assistant

    Responsibilities

    • Assists in the overall administration of the Regional Office, i.e. provides substantive and administrative support in managing priorities and workflow of the Regional Representative and of the work unit; coordinates and monitors multiple and diverse activities and work processes to ensure that management directives and decisions are properly carried out and products delivered in a timely manner.
    • Compiles and analyzes basic data from a variety of sources (including Umoja), summarizing and presenting conclusions for review by The Regional Representative.
    • Serves as a communications link between supervisor and senior staff; on behalf of supervisor, keeps others informed by conveying directives, reports, status updates and other relevant information; brings sensitive and urgent matters to the attention of the manager.

    • Undertakes representational duties on behalf of the manager, to include serving as first point of contact and liaison with senior officials internally and externally.
    • Screens and prioritizes all incoming correspondence; compiles relevant background documents and references; identifies issues requiring the Regional Representative's attention and refers others to relevant officer for appropriate disposition; monitors and follows-up on actions to be taken.
    • Researches, compiles and summarizes background materials for use in preparation of reports, briefs, speeches; scan reports from specialized agencies, as well as newspapers, magazine, periodicals and other information sources to identify articles of interest to the manager.
    • Independently handles a wide range of complex information requests and inquiries (e.g. answer requests requiring file or other research); responds, or drafts responses, to a diverse range of correspondence and other communications.

    Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in general office support, administration or a related area is required.
    • The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
    • A minimum of two (2) years of working with advanced MS applications such as MS word, Excel and PowerPoint is desirable.
    • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with International and/or multilateral institutions, engaging high level delegates and the diplomatic corps is desirable.
    • One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

    Associate Programme Management Officer

    Responsibilities

    • Works with key clients to facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects, monitors and analyzes specific aspects of programme/project development and implementation;
    • Reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and recommends corrective actions; Laises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions.
    • Carries out basic research on selected aspects of programmes, operations and other activities, to include collecting, analyzing and presenting statistical data and other information gathered from diverse sources.

    Education

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration or related area is required.
    • At least one-year experience at the international level working with multi-stakeholders is desirable.
    • Experience in research, analysis and presentation of information gathered from diverse sources of relevance to the Executive Office such as policy issues and administrative matters is desirable.
    • Experience in organizing and preparing written outputs, e.g. prepare background and briefing papers, analyse, report and study, inputs to publications is desirable.
    • 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable (none if successful YPP or P-1 with a related degree.

    Administrative Assistant

    Responsibility

    • Performs other related administrative duties, as required (e.g., operational travel programme; monitoring accounts and payment to vendors and individual contractors for services; physical space planning; identification of office technology needs and maintenance of equipment, software and systems; organizing and coordinating seminars, conferences and translations).

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in administrative services, finance, accounting, audit, human resources or related area is required.
    • The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
    • Experience working in the United Nations System or any other international organizations in the area related to the field of work is desirable.
    • Experience in designing and organizing consultative and other meetings, seminars, training exercises and workshops is desirable.

    Human Resources Officer

    Responsibilities

    Human Resource Management:

    • Effectively coordinates actions relative to the administration of human resource activities, e.g., recruitment, placement, promotion, performance appraisal, job classification reviews, separation of staff members, training, ensuring consistency in the application of UN rules and procedures.
